It’s Rajkummar Rao vs Rajkummar Rao: ‘Prahaar’ To Lock Horns With ‘Raftaar’ At The Box Office
Rajkummar Rao-starrer “Prahaar: The Untold Story Ujjwal Nikam,” which was supposed to release on August 7, will now hit the screens on October 16. Based on the life of veteran public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, the biographical courtroom drama will focus on his work on the 1993 Bombay blasts and other major cases.
While the announcement has turned out to be a major update for the cinegoers, there’s a solid twist as the film will now lock horns with another Rajkummar Rao’s project, titled “Raftaar,” which is arriving on the same day.
Interestingly, the release date of “Raftaar” has also changed. While it was scheduled to hit cinemas on July 24, they announced the new release date (October 16) in May.

With the change in the release date of “Prahaar,” the makers of “Raftaar” are again expected to delay the release of their film, as it is illogical to have a clash between two films with the same male protagonist.
“Prahaar” is directed by Avinash Arun, who is known for helming titles like “Paatal Lok,” “Three of Us,” “School Of Lies” and “Pritam And Pedro.” Written by Sumit Roy, Dushyant Arora and Vishal Tiwari, “Prahaar” also features Wamiqa Gabbi, Jaideep Ahlawat, Sikandar Kher, Ashish Vidyarthi, Lalit Prabhakar and Ritvik Sahore.
On the other hand, “Raftaar” is helmed by Aditya Nimbalkar, who previously directed “Sector 36.” It is produced by Rajkummar Rao’s wife and actress Patralekhaa. Written by Akshat Ghildial, Rohan Narula and Aditya Nimbalkar, the movie also stars Tanya Maniktala and Rajat Kapoor in supporting roles.
