‘It Has A Very Modern Voice’: Saumya Tandon On Sooraj Barjatya’s New Film With Ayushmann Khurrana And Sharvari Wagh (EXCLUSIVE)

"Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain!" actress Saumya Tandon was seen as the wife of Rehman Dakait (Akshaye Khanna) in the biggest blockbuster of 2025, "Dhurandhar." The actress is basking in the success of the movie with one more big project lined up in her kitty. She tells us that the team of "Bhabi Ji Ghar Hain!" was thrilled to see her in "Dhurandhar." "All of them watched it in the theaters. They called up to congratulate and their joy was infectious. We are still very close and always cheer for each other," she says. Describing her first day on the sets, she says there was no time to break the ice with Akshaye Khanna. Like many of us, she too was his fan since her teenage days. After a few days, they bonded over their love for books.

Saumya says, "The first scene was the cigarette one and we kind of met just before the scene. He is a breeze to work with but an introvert. Akshaye keeps to himself and is mostly reading when he is not in the middle of a shot. We did share many book recommendations though."

The actress will be seen in Sooraj Barjatya's film that has Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari Wagh in the lead. "I cannot disclose much about the movie but I feel I am blessed to work with Sooraj Barjatya after Aditya Dhar. Being on set with him is a joy and blessing. He truly cares for every person on set like he or she is a family member. He is one of the best humans I have met," Saumya gushes.

Whenever someone talks about the Barjatyas, they remember the blockbuster family films of the 1990s like "Hum Aapke Hain Koun...!", "Hum Saath-Saath Hain" that had wholesome entertainment rooted in Indian values. Many argue that those kind of stories do not have a market today. Sharing her opinion on the same, Saumya tells Variety India, "He is ready to surprise all of you with the film. Audiences will see how it is a story rooted in Indian culture yet with a modern voice. It will resonate with everyone."
