Faria Abdullah and Tharun Bhascker starrer ‘Gaayapadda Simham’ Turns Profitable Before Release
By Avad Mohammad,
At a time when expecting a low-budget film production to make a profit seems a far-fetched idea — especially in Telugu cinema — “Gaayapadda Simham,” a crime comedy, has turned this notion on its head. Featuring Tharun Bhascker and Faria Abdullah in lead roles, "Gayapadda Simham" has already entered the profit zone well ahead of its theatrical release.
Given that even films backed by major banners struggle to recover costs pre-release, this comedy-thriller has pulled off a rare and noteworthy feat. According to trade reports, the film has already earned ₹15 crore in pre-release business from OTT and theatrical rights against a total budget of ₹11 crore. The digital rights have been bagged by Prime Video for ₹10 crore, while the theatrical rights have been sold for ₹5 crore on a non-refundable advance basis to popular distributors SVC Release.
Additionally, negotiations for audio and satellite rights are underway, which are expected to bring in another ₹4 crore. If closed as projected, the total revenue will reach ₹19 crore, resulting in an overall profit of around ₹7 crore even before release.Such a table profit scenario has become increasingly uncommon in recent years, particularly for films without star-driven backing. However, "Gayapadda Simham" seems to have benefited from controlled budgeting and well-timed deals.

Speaking about the same, the film's presenter, Pawan Sadineni, says, "We are very happy with the final output. Those who have seen ‘Gaayapadda Simham’ have loved it and we are confident that the crime comedy will surely work with today's audience. The icing on the cake is the pre-release business, which has already landed us into profits."
Adding to its advantage, the film enjoys a relatively uncluttered release window. Though multiple low-budget films were slated for May 1st release, they have now backed out and will instead come out in April, as per industry insiders. It stands as the only notable direct Telugu release slated for May 1, 2026, which could further boost its box-office prospects.
Directed by Kasyap Sreenivas, the film also features "Satya" fame JD Chakravarthy alongside Maanasa Choudhary. Positioned as a satirical take on the American Dream, the story follows a young man whose aspirations of moving to the United States spiral into unexpected chaos, thanks to a mafia don.
