Diljit Dosanjh’s October 30 Delhi Concert Hits Roadblock as Police Deny Permission Over Security Concerns

Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming Delhi concert has hit a roadblock after the Delhi Police denied permission for the October 30 show at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, citing security concerns. The development puts the planned opening concert of the singer’s Aura India Tour in uncertainty, just days before he was scheduled to perform in the national capital.

According to ANI, the police have refused permission for the concert on security grounds. A report by Hindustan Times cited threat related inputs among the concerns behind the decision. The police also reportedly flagged security arrangements during the festive season and the need to maintain law and order. The request to hold the event was submitted to the authorities by the organisers.

The denial comes after the Delhi concert was rescheduled from November 1 to October 30 following an appeal by Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Sahney, who had urged Dosanjh and the organisers to consider the date’s significance for families affected by the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The change was announced earlier this month, with the organisers stating that existing tickets would remain valid for the revised date.

The latest development leaves the status of the Delhi show uncertain. As of October 22, there has been no confirmed announcement in the reports reviewed about a new venue, an alternative date or the concert’s rescheduling. The police decision also does not, by itself, establish whether the remaining dates of Diljit Dosanjh’s India tour will be affected.

The Aura India Tour is scheduled to travel to multiple cities following the Delhi show, including Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Lucknow, with a Chandigarh date also expected to be announced. The tour follows Diljit Dosanjh’s Dil-Luminati Tour, which drew considerable attention in India and overseas.

Diljit Dosanjh, one of the most prominent Punjabi music stars to build a global audience, has also established a parallel career in films, with credits including “Amar Singh Chamkila”, “Crew” and “Jatt & Juliet”.
