Danish Pandor on Avoiding Getting Typecast After ‘Dhurandhar’ and ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’: ‘I Have To Keep Trying New Things’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Danish Pandor has opened up about the challenge of avoiding typecasting after delivering impactful performances, saying he is consciously pushing himself to explore diverse characters across mediums. Reflecting on how memorable characters can influence casting decisions, Pandor acknowledged that actors often face the risk of being offered similar parts.

"You get scared and worried. The recent characters that I have played, including Uzair Baloch in ‘Dhurandhar,’ Afzal in ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ and Ikhlaas Khan in ‘Chhaava,’ have left a lot of impact. A lot of people from the industry tend to cast you for similar kinds of roles. But I have to make sure that I don’t end up doing that,” he shares.

Pandor says, “The three characters were different, but all are of the same community. The characterization was different, in terms of tonality. As an actor, my approach for them was different. But I also have to try new things.”

The actor emphasizes that, while he has worked hard to bring distinct nuances to each of his performances, the onus is on him to demonstrate his versatility. “You also have to constantly prove to yourself that you can do other roles. At this point of time, I want to explore all the mediums. I want to tell people, ‘You have seen me in this. But I am going to be good in that as well.”

While his upcoming projects haven't been announced, Danish says he's open to exploring more roles and taking on intense characters that are different from what he has done before.
