Box Office Weekend Winners: ‘Alpha’ Posts Decent Opening, ‘Welcome To The Jungle’, ‘Gatta Kusthi 2’ And ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ Show Upward Trend

Last Friday’s big-ticket release "Alpha," starring Alia Bhatt, Sharvari and Bobby Deol garnered mixed reviews. However, the action thriller opened well and gained over the weekend. After registering ₹9 crore on its first day, the Shiv Rawail directorial scored ₹11.50 crore and ₹13 crore on Day 2 and 3, taking its weekend total to ₹33 crore. 

Impressive first weekend for 'Gatta Kusthi 2'

"Gatta Kusthi 2," the Tamil sports comedy enjoyed an impressive first weekend in the domestic market. The sequel to 2022 "Gatta Kusthi" featuring Vishnu Vishal and Aishwarya Lekshmi, collected ₹2.70 crore on its opening day followed by a phenomenal growth on Saturday and Sunday with ₹4.95 crore and ₹6.20 crore, respectively, making ₹13.85 crore. 

'Nagabandham' and 'Rao Bahadur' Post Decent Numbers 

Two new Telugu releases, "Nagabandham" starring Virat Karrna, Nabha Natesh, Iswarya Menon and Mahesh Manjrekar and "Rao Bahadur" featuring Satyadev, Vikas Muppala and Deepa Thomas managed to get decent footfalls in their opening weekend at the ticket windows. 

"Nagabandham" collected ₹11.65 crore with Telugu contributing to 72% of collections. On the other hand, "Rao Bahadur," presented by superstar Mahesh Babu, earned ₹4.85 crore in its limited release. 

'Welcome To The Jungle' Enters ₹100 Crore Club

The action comedy featuring an ensemble cast of Akshay Kumar, Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Suniel Shetty and Arshad Warsi among others shows tremendous growth in its second weekend to hit the 100-crore milestone at the box office. 

The film collected ₹22.50 crore between July 3 and 5 and currently stands at a grand total of ₹115.50 crore. It has become Akshay's second to hit those figures after "Bhooth Bangla". 

'Main Vaapas Aaunga' As Dark Horse

Imtiaz Ali's "Main Vaapas Aaunga" continues to attract cinegoers in its fourth weekend. The Naseeruddin Shah, Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina and Sharvari starrer collected ₹5.25 crore in the last three days and now stands at a total of ₹57.50 crore and is expected to end its theatrical run around ₹65 crore.
