‘Samuk’: Viineet Kumar Siingh Cast in a Pivotal Role in the Akshay Kumar starrer (EXCLUSIVE)

The ensemble of the upcoming sci-fi alien survival-action thriller “Samuk,” headlined by Akshay Kumar, is getting an interesting cast addition. Variety India has learned that Viineet Kumar Siingh is now part of Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s ambitious project.

Sources from the film’s team reveal that the “Mukkabaaz” and “Gangs of Wasseypur” actor will be seen in a key role in director Kanishk Varma’s ambitious genre film. While the makers are keeping the characters and plot under wraps, Singh’s casting is said to be an important part of the film’s larger ensemble.

 

The source reveals, “Viineet has a certain rawness and physicality and the director felt he was the perfect choice for this character. His presence brings a different energy to the ensemble, and the part requires an actor who can bring intensity without overplaying it. The casting of “Samuk” is being shaped by a clear creative vision. The makers aren’t simply looking at conventional choices; they want performers who can bring individuality to this world. Viineet is known to immerse himself physically into his characters, so he is sure to blend into the world and make it his own.”

While Singh’s character remains under wraps, the source adds, “Singh will join Kumar on a major mission in the film. His role is pivotal to the narrative, with the two characters sharing one of the strongest bonds in the film.”

Singh is known for powerful performances ranging from Anurag Kashyap’s “Mukkabaaz,” where he played Danish Khan, to the epic historical action film Chhaava, where he essayed the part of Kavi Kalash, the loyal friend, poet, and advisor to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. His filmography includes dramas, thrillers and action-oriented projects, including “Gold,” “Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl,” “Saand Ki Aankh” and “Jaat,” among others.

“Samuk” reunites Akshay Kumar and producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah after 13 years. Shah is producing the film under Sunshine Pictures, with Aashin A. Shah as co-producer. Directed by Kanishk Varma, the film has reportedly been in development for more than two years and is currently being shot in London.

Mounted as a large-scale theatrical spectacle, “Samuk is touted to blend science fiction with visceral action, survival and horror elements, creating a distinct genre world. With Akshay Kumar headlining and an increasingly interesting ensemble coming together, the makers are keeping details of the characters and storyline under wraps.

The film is expected to release theatrically in 2027 and is being positioned as an ambitious genre spectacle.
