Despite the arrival of Tovino Thomas’s “Pallichattambi” and Kunchacko Boban’s “Oru Durooha Saahacharyathil,” “Vaazha 2” continues to break records at the ticket windows.
It is heartening to see a film with no big stars shattering the records of movies that feature some of the tallest Malayalam actors. While the film is set to enter the ₹200-crore club globally, it has become the fastest entrant to the ₹100-crore club at the Kerala box office, achieving the milestone in just 15 days. This beats Mohanlal-starrer Thudarum (19 days) and Kalyani Priyadarshan’s “Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra” (24 days).
The film, driven by social media personalities such as Hashir, Alan, Vinayak and Ajin, has showcased the box-office pull of digital-era personalities when backed by strong content and audience connect.
The film's huge success has paved the way for “Vaazha 3: Biopic of a Billion Girls,” which will shift the franchise’s focus to girl-led storytelling.
It will be written by filmmaker Vipin Das, who penned the earlier installments.
