‘Tumbbad 2’: Sohum Shah Announces ‘Pralay Ayega’ With Intriguing Poster Reminiscent of the Goddess’ Lore

Atmospheric, nuanced and breathtaking, Sohum Shah and Rahi Anil Barve's 2018 "Tumbbad" is described in superlatives till date. Fans had been wanting a sequel or an extension of the story since years. Today, Sohum Shah has unveiled the poster making an official announcement of the same. "Tumbbad 2" carries foward the folklore of the Goddess who represented material wealth and fertility in all forms. The tagline reads, 'Pralay Ayega,' which means a catastrophe is waiting to happen. It also means annihilation or destruction. Sohum Shah unveiled the poster with the lines, "Every saint has a past. Every sinner has a future. The legacy of sin returns, the cycle of greed continues… Welcome to the world of TUMBBAD, once again!" 

The first film ended with Vinayak Rao (Sohum Shah) transforming into a monster. His son Pandurang had to kill him after they managed to get the gold. Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has come on board for "Tumbbad 2". The story has been kept under wraps. 

Jayantilal Gada has also come on board as a producer for "Tumbbad 2." Adesh Prasad is going to direct the second movie. In the poster, we can see the Mother Goddess cradling her womb. On her sides, we can see two figures that remind us of divine entities like Yakshas or Gandharvas. The design is distinctly Indian highlighting the strong influence of folklore. 

 

The shoot commenced with a pooja today with the team sharing the pictures. Jayantilal Gada and Boney Kapoor were present for the same. People are missing Rahi Anil Barve in the comments section. "Tumbbad" was made on a tight budget with the crew stretching themselves to achieve the artistic vision of the film. In comparison, "Tumbbad 2" has a biggger budget with makers roping in technicians from Hollywood.
