‘Toxic’ Advance Booking: Yash-Starrer Collects Over ₹28 Crore in Pre-Sales; Karnataka Contributes 51% of Collections

Advance bookings for the Yash-starrer “Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown-Ups” opened on August 21, and the film opened to a thunderous response across the country, with Yash’s primary market, Karnataka, leading the way.

In two days, the period gangster action drama has collected over ₹28 crore at the box office, as per Recobee.AI. From the total collections, the state of Karnataka has contributed ₹14.34 crore, which is over 51% of pre-sales.

The next biggest market for the film is Maharashtra, which added ₹2.53 crore, followed by Gujarat, which sold tickets worth ₹1.71 crore.

The film is now in the race for the biggest opening for a South-dubbed film that is not a sequel, competing with biggies like “Saaho” (2019), “RRR” (2022), “Salaar” (2023), and “Kalki 2898 AD” (2024).

Despite undergoing multiple delays, the craze and buzz around “Toxic” never diminished among cinegoers. It was supposed to be released on March 19, alongside “Dhurandhar: The Revenge.” The release date then changed to June 4 and was later confirmed as August 26. With two more days remaining before its grand theatrical release, the film is on track to cross ₹70–₹75 crore in pre-sales.

With the current estimation, “Toxic” is expected to become the sixth Indian film to earn over ₹100 crore on its first day in the domestic market after “Baahubali 2,” “KGF 2,” “RRR,” “Pushpa 2” and “Dhurandhar.”

“Toxic” marks Yash’s major return to the big screen following the blockbuster “KGF” franchise. The film features an ensemble cast including Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Rukmini Vasanth, Huma Qureshi and Tara Sutaria. The film’s adult certification also reinforces its “Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups” positioning, signalling a considerably darker world than the title might initially suggest.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film is produced by Yash and Venkat K. Narayana, with Rajeev Ravi serving as director of photography. The songs are composed by Vishal Mishra, Ravi Basrur, Tanishk Bagchi, Faheem Abdullah and Arslan Nizami.
