Samantha Ruth Prabhu Joins Shraddha Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Kalyani Priyadarshan in Female-Led ₹100 Crore Club
Samantha Ruth Prabhu's action entertainer, "Maa Inti Bangaaram," has crossed the ₹100 crore mark at the global box-office, making it one of the most profitable films from the Telugu film industry in 2026, recovering more than 300% on its budget. It is also the first female-led Telugu movie to reach this coveted mark at the box-office.
With the success of "Maa Inti Bangaaram," Samantha Ruth Prabhu joins an elite list of Indian actresses — like Shraddha Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Kangana Ranaut and Vidya Balan — who achieved this milestone with female-led films.

An ecstatic Prabhu says, "This isn’t just a number for us. ‘Maa Inti Bangaaram’ proves that audiences across languages are ready to back a story led entirely by a woman.” Her husband, Raj K Nidimoru, who conceptualized the movie, making his debut as a filmmaker in the Telugu industry, adds, "I’m truly overwhelmed by the love and support it has received. I’m grateful that audiences have embraced it as their own." Filmmaker BV Nandini Reddy co-wrote the film with Nidimoru and also directed it. Audiences and critics alike have appreciated the film's situational comedy and natural stunt choreography.
The most successful female-led movie from South India so far has been the Malayalam film "Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra," headlined by Kalyani Priyadarshan. It grossed ₹303.86 crore worldwide setting a new record for Malayalam movies and Indian actresses.
Shraddha Kapoor’s "Stree 2," her second film in the horror-comedy franchise, made ₹627 crore nett in India alone. The worldwide gross figure of the Amar Kaushik directorial was ₹857.15 crore.
Alia Bhatt's two films, "Raazi" and "Gangubai Kathiawadi" are also in this club. The Meghna Gulzar spy-thriller made ₹192 crore worldwide, becoming one of the most successful films of 2018. In 2022, Bhatt repeated the feat with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's drama that raked in ₹211.5 crore.
Kangana Ranaut also has two ₹100 crore films in her repertoire: "Tanu Weds Manu Returns" (2015) and "Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi" (2019). The Aanand L Rai film made ₹258 crore at the global box office while "Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi" raked in ₹142 crore worldwide.
"Maa Inti Bangaram" cast includes names like Gulshan Devaiah, Diganth Manchale, Gautami, Sreemukhi and Anand. The film arrived in theatres on June 19 in Tamil and Telugu.
