Rajinikanth’s latest outing, “Jailer 2,” is on a record-breaking spree at the box office. After emerging as the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2026 in just four days, the action-comedy has now joined Thalapathy Vijay’s “Leo” in the race to become one of the fastest films to cross the ₹150 crore mark in its original language.
Vijay’s action thriller collected ₹171.45 crore in its original Tamil version in its first five days. Meanwhile, “Jailer 2” has earned ₹164.95 crore in Tamil, with its fifth-day evening and night collections yet to be reported. Given its strong box office trend, the Rajinikanth-starrer has a chance of surpassing “Leo”s first-five-day tally by the end of the day.
Other Tamil films that crossed the ₹150 crore mark in quick succession include “Jailer” (six days), “The Greatest of All Time” (seven days), “Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1” (eight days) and “Coolie” (nine days).

The film is produced by Kamal Haasan under Raaj Kamal Films International, alongside R Mahendran of Turmeric Media.
