The phenomenal domestic success of Rajinikanth-starrer “Jailer 2” has led to a historic move by theater owners. Because of growing demand for the sequel, independent multiplex chains and single-screen theatres have added more shows. In fact, it has become the first South Indian film to get post-midnight theatrical screenings in North India, along with early morning shows from Monday.
MovieMax has arranged special screenings of the film at MovieMax Huma in Kanjurmarg, Mumbai, and MovieMax Gold in Kalyani Nagar, Pune. The latter had scheduled a show for 1:45 AM on Monday.
Apart from the original language, exhibitors are also increasing shows of its Hindi-dubbed version, titled “Rajini: The Jailer 2,” to accommodate the film’s demand. In fact, several theaters in Maharashtra are reportedly reducing the shows of Rajkummar Rao’s “Prahaar: The Ujjwal Nikam Story” and Yami Gautam Dhar’s “Nayyi Navelli” to make way for “Jailer 2.”
From today, Mumbai’s single-screen Citylight Cinema has allocated two shows each to “Prahaar” and “Rajini: The Jailer 2” and discontinued “Nayyi Navelli,” the Marathi film “Sohla,” and “Drishyam The Conclusion.”
Despite the absence of the country's leading national multiplex chains from its North Indian release, “Jailer 2” made massive business at independent theatres and non-national multiplex chains.

While the Hindi-dubbed version of the movie has collected ₹16.65 crore in four days, it would be interesting to see whether it surpasses “Coolie” (₹37.23 crore). With the Dussehra holiday tomorrow, the film should witness a hike in collections, especially in the western circuits of the country.
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the movie marks the return of Rajinikanth as the swaggering and fierce retired jailer 'Tiger' Muthuvel Pandian.
