Milap Zaveri on His Upcoming Collaboration with Aditya Roy Kapur: ‘He Is In His Massiest Avatar Yet’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Filmmaker Milap Zaveri, who is gearing up to release "Tera Yaar Hoon Main," opens up about his upcoming collaboration with Aditya Roy Kapur. The filmmaker describes the yet-untitled project as an intense musical love story that has romance, action, heartbreak and heroism. The director reveals that the actor will be seen in what he calls his "massiest avatar" yet.

Speaking about the film with Variety India, Milap says, “The film is a musical. It is an intense and violent love story. It is of the genre of 'Aashiqui’, 'Ek Deewane ki Deewaniyat’ and ‘Marjaavaan.’ Aditya and I have been friends for many years. We have interacted many times."

Lauding Aditya as an artiste, Milap shares, “Some of his best films and performances are in ‘Aashiqui 2,’ ‘Malang,’ and ‘The Night Manager.’ We have interacted many times. Audiences love it when he does intense and angry roles. When I was working on my new story, I met Aditya and narrated it to him. He immediately loved it. We spent some time back and forth on the film and the script. He came on board eventually.”

Milap believes the film will present a new side of Aditya while retaining the emotional intensity that has defined some of his most-loved performances. “Aditya is in his massiest avatar in this film. Also, the films I make have a lot of heroism, along with heartbreak. Bhushan Kumar is also onboard, so the music is going to be beautiful. So, I would say, the zone and spirit would be more like the films I have mentioned previously. The story is intense, and you will see some powerful cinema," he adds.

While the filmmaker remains tight-lipped about specific details of Aditya's character, or about other cast members, he hints that the actor's fans can expect a performance that taps into the emotional and action-packed space that has worked well for him in the past. “It is too soon to talk about anything else. His fans, who have loved him in ‘Aashiqui 2’ and ‘Malang’ will not be disappointed," he explains.

The yet-untitled film is backed by Bhushan Kumar and promises to combine an emotionally charged narrative with a strong musical soundtrack.
