Meenakshi Chaudhary Confirms Hindi Debut Opposite Akshay Kumar in ‘Bhagam Bhag 2’: ‘It Came at the Perfect Time’ (EXCLUSIVE)
Meenakshi Chaudhary is all set to make her Hindi debut with “Bhagam Bhaag 2,” where she stars opposite Akshay Kumar. The actor, who has worked in some of the most talked-about South Indian films including “Lucky Bhaskar,” “Guntur Kaaram,” and “The Greatest Of All Time (GOAT),” has been making headlines amid speculation about her role in the upcoming Kumar film.
Now, speaking to Variety India, Chaudhary has confirmed that she is indeed part of the sequel and spoke about how the project arrived at the right moment in her career.
When asked how she feels about making her Hindi debut with “Bhagam Bhaag 2,” Chaudhary said, “I feel like it came at a time when I was looking for something exactly like this. I was looking for scripts that families would enjoy, and having seen the first part when I was younger, I loved it. So getting to be a part of this feels like it arrived at the perfect time when I was searching for something like this.”

Chaudhary further explained that many projects that came her way earlier did not resonate with her.
“And that is exactly how it happened, because a lot of the other projects that came to me story-wise were not something I was very keen on. When this came along, it just felt like pure laughter. I feel like no matter what age you are or what language you come from, this storyline and character will connect with you. You are going to enjoy it regardless of the language you watch it in.”
When asked how she plans to match Kumar’s celebrated comic timing in the film, Chaudhary said she plans to approach the set as a learner.
“For me, I think I am just going to be the biggest student on set, like how chelas are around a guru, just following whatever they say. I think I am going to be that on this set and absorb everything I can from him. Not every day do you get an opportunity to work with someone as amazing as he is in his craft.”
She added, “He knows exactly what he is doing, and seeing that up close is honestly a blessing for any actor. I am so grateful that I get to experience that. Yes, I met sir and had a narration and everything. I think he is currently busy working on something else, and once that is done he will jump onto our project. I cannot wait to be on set with the rest of the crew. I met the director too — he is so funny. He has such a great hold over comedy and knows exactly what he is doing. It is a very exciting group of people to be working with.”
“Bhagam Bhaag 2” reportedly also stars Paresh Rawal, Manoj Bajpayee and Ayesha Khan in the ensemble cast. The film is written and directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa. A release date for the project has not yet been announced.
