‘Love & War’: Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt Epic Love Story to Clash With Rishab Shetty’s ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’
The makers of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Love & War” have finally announced January 21, 2027, as the new release date of the Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal and Alia Bhatt-starrer.
While this announcement has pleased cinegoers, there’s a concern that this film will have to compete for audience’s eyeballs as Rishab Shetty’s “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj” will be released on the same day.
Both films, releasing on a Thursday, will benefit from the 'extended' weekend, along with the Republic Day holiday on Tuesday.

Interestingly, the Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed film will also have its dubbed versions in Telugu and Tamil.
Talking about “Love & War,” the film marks the reunion of Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt with SLB after “Saawariya” and “Gangubai Kathiawadi,” respectively. Both actors have also earlier shared screen space in “Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva.”
While Vicky Kaushal is working with Bhansali for the first time, the actor has previously collaborated with Alia and Ranbir in “Raazi” and “Sanju.”
“Love & War” has faced multiple delays at the box office. While the initial release date was Christmas 2025, it was later pushed to March 20, 2026, and now, January 21, 2027.
The film is described as a period romance set against the backdrop of war. While media reports have suggested the film may be loosely inspired by Raj Kapoor’s 1964 classic “Sangam,” Bhansali has refuted this suggestion.
