Lalit Prabhakar Boards Avinash Arun’s Film And Teams With ‘Jamtara’ Creator Soumendra Padhi For A Show (EXCLUSIVE)

Lalit Prabhakar is expanding his slate across languages and formats. In an exclusive conversation with Variety India, the actor confirmed that he is set to star in a Hindi film directed by Avinash Arun, while also collaborating with Soumendra Padhi on an upcoming web series.
The actor, who is currently promoting “Toh Ti Ani Fuji,” said both projects are in progress, though details remain under wraps. “I am also working on a Hindi film with Avinash Arun; I cannot give you more details on that right now. And I am  working on a web series that is being directed by Soumendra Padhi,” he said, adding that he is looking forward to exploring the Hindi space further.
Avinash Arun’s directorial filmography includes “Three Of Us,” “Paatal Lok,” "Killa" and more. Meanwhile, Padhi is best known as the creator-director of “Jamtara: Sabka Number Ayega,” making this collaboration a notable crossover for Prabhakar into long-form streaming content.
Alongside these projects, Prabhakar is also working on a Marathi biopic based on poet, writer and Dalit activist Namdeo Laxman Dhasal. Titled “Dhasal,” the film is currently in its final schedule.
“‘Dhasal,’ we are on the final schedule of the film,” Prabhakar confirmed. Speaking about the role, he described it as one of the most significant opportunities in his career so far.
“Dhasal in itself is such a powerful character. His work has been very disruptive and I have never come across something like this. All the poems he wrote, everything that he did for society, it is a massive opportunity for me to play him on screen,” he said.

The actor also reflected on the complexity of portraying a figure who was both an activist and a poet. “He is an activist, a revolutionary, and also a poet, which is such a vulnerable yet strong zone to be,” he said.

Referencing his admiration for figures like Bhagat Singh, Che Guevara and Fidel Castro, Prabhakar added, “I have read about them and admired their work, but I never thought I would get to play one such revolutionary. I am just happy and trying to do justice to this character.”
