‘Jailer 2’ Box Office: Rajinikanth’s Film Races Past ₹300 Crore Worldwide in Three Days, Climbs to No. 2 Among Tamil Releases Of 2026

Rajinikanth’s latest big-screen outing, "Jailer 2," has made a powerful start at the worldwide box office, collecting approximately ₹321 crore in its first three days. The action sequel has crossed the ₹300 crore mark faster than most Tamil releases this year, securing the second position in the 2026 worldwide rankings after surpassing "Karuppu." Only *Jana Nayagan* remains ahead of the Sun Pictures production.

The film’s domestic net collections have remained substantial over its opening weekend. It earned ₹59.70 crore on Friday, followed by ₹37.10 crore on Saturday before recording a further ₹47.25 crore on Sunday, according to the figures provided. The weekend performance suggests that the film has managed to draw audiences back to theatres following the initial rush surrounding its release.

International markets have also contributed significantly to the film’s growing total. "Jailer 2" reportedly collected ₹57 crore overseas on Thursday, followed by ₹43 crore on Friday and ₹52 crore on Saturday. This sustained contribution from international territories has helped push its worldwide gross beyond the ₹300 crore threshold within its first three days.

The milestone puts "Jailer 2" in the company of "Jana Nayagan" and "Karuppu", the other Tamil films reported to have crossed the ₹300 crore worldwide mark in 2026. However, the Rajinikanth-led sequel has made its way into the annual rankings within its opening weekend, giving it an early advantage in the race for the year’s biggest Tamil grosser.

The film has reportedly matched Rajinikanth’s "Coolie" as the fastest Tamil release to reach ₹300 crore worldwide. Its performance draws on the actor’s considerable following across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh-Telangana, alongside the anticipation surrounding the follow-up to the first "Jailer". The sequel’s opening has also received support from its overseas theatrical run, which has added considerable weight to its overall earnings.

With the latest figures pushing the worldwide gross to approximately ₹321 crore, *Jailer 2* is now looking to narrow the gap with *Jana Nayagan*. The next phase of its theatrical run will determine whether it can move into the top spot among Tamil films released this year. Sunday’s figures are expected to provide a clearer picture of the film’s momentum as it heads into the coming week.

For now, the sequel has established itself as one of 2026’s biggest Tamil box office performers, with its rapid worldwide accumulation and strong international collections giving it a promising start. Its ability to sustain audience interest beyond the opening weekend will be crucial to determining how high it ultimately climbs in the annual rankings.
