The highly anticipated 2026 Tamil film “Jailer 2,” headlined by Rajinikanth, has finally hit screens and, as expected, the mass action-thriller has made a phenomenal box-office start, with Tamil Nadu leading by a huge margin.
After record-breaking pre-sales, the tentpole project has registered extraordinary morning-show occupancy. According to Ramesh Bala, the trade tracker from Chennai, the original Tamil version has 80 percent occupancy, followed by Telugu (60 percent) and Hindi (25 percent).
So far, the film has collected ₹18.71 crore on its opening day, with Tamil contributing a significant ₹15.37 crore. Among non-Tamil-speaking cities, Kochi and Bengaluru have registered maximum occupancy for the sequel. Based on the current trend, the film is targeting over ₹80 crore on its first day, making it one of the biggest openers in Indian cinema history.
