From ‘Patriot’ To ‘Kara’ And ‘Peddi’: South India Surges Ahead Of Hindi Film Industry with Several Big-Ticket Releases in April

March witnessed several releases across the country, including “Aadu 3,” “Love Mocktail 3,” “Ustaad Bhagat Singh,” and “Dhurandhar 2,” among others. With the latter dominating the box office and making a memorable month for the Hindi Film Industry, attention now shifts to April, which is expected to be a big month for South Indian films. Anticipated titles such as “Love Insurance Kompany,” “Kaalidas 2,” “Patriot,” “Peddi” and “Kara,” among others, are expected to rule at the box office.

Love Insurance Kompany: April 3

After the global blockbusters “Dragon” and “Dude,” Pradeep Ranganathan returns with “Love Insurance Kompany”. This science fiction romantic comedy is written and directed by Vignesh Shivan. Shivan earlier helmed “Naanum Rowdy Dhaan,” “Thaanaa Serndha Koottam” and “Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal.” The movie features S. J. Suryah, Krithi Shetty, Yogi Babu, Seeman, Gouri G Kishan, Shah Ra, Malavika, Mysskin, Anandaraj and Sunil Reddy.

Kaalidas 2 - April 10

Bharath and Ajay Karthi-starrer investigative thriller “Kaalidas 2” is directed by Sri Senthil and bankrolled by Dr N. Yogeshwaran along with Five Star Senthil under their Sky Pictures banner. The film also marks the return of Sangeetha Madhavan to Kollywood after 26-years. Her last Tamil release was Kann “Thirandhu Paaramma” (2000).

Patriot - April 23

The highly anticipated big-budget Malayalam flick featuring the ensemble cast of Mammootty, Mohanlal, Fahadh Faasil, Nayanthara and Kunchacko Boban is directed by Mahesh Narayanan of “Take Off” and “C U Soon” fame. With two stalwarts - Mohanlal and Mammootty sharing the frame, the film is expected to be a visual treat for cinegoers.

Peddi - April 30

The pan-India Telugu sports drama features Ram Charan, Janhvi Kapoor, Jagapathi Babu and Shiva Rajkumar. The film is crucial for its lead actor, as his last film, “Game Changer,” tanked at the box office. The film is directed by Buchi Babu Sana of “Uppena” fame.

Kara - April 30

The Tamil language action thriller features an ensemble cast of Dhanush, Mamitha Baiju, Jayaram, K.S. Ravikumar, Karunas and Suraj Venjaramoodu. The Vignesh Raja-directorial is expected to be a gripping affair with GV Prakash’s powerful tracks.

KD: The Devil - April 30

The Kannada action-drama stars Dhruva Sarja in the titular role, alongside Sanjay Dutt, Shilpa Shetty, V. Ravichandran, Ramesh Aravind, Reeshma Nanaiah, Jisshu Sengupta and Nora Fatehi. The film has been grabbing headlines for its vulgar lyrics in one of the Hindi-dubbed version songs. However, with its lead actor enjoying a tremendous fanbase and humongous buzz around the film, “KD: The Devil” is expected to take a great opening, especially in the state of Karnataka.
