‘Dhurandhar 2’ Shatters Hindi Preview Advance Booking Records; Dubbed Versions Lag Far Behind
Ranveer Singh-starrer “Dhurandhar 2” has already turned out to be a record-breaker at the box office even before its arrival in theaters. The spy actioner is currently the highest Indian grosser in paid previews at the domestic market, with over ₹24 crore in its kitty and with still four more days to go for the grand release, “Dhurandhar 2” will cross the ₹30 crore mark in the preview (also known as pre-screening) shows.
While the film has set a new benchmark in preview shows, the response for the dubbed versions is shockingly low among the cinegoers. The first part was only released in its original version, but the makers have chosen to release it in multiple languages (dubbed versions), including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, to expand its reach in the southern markets.
However, analyzing the current situation, it looks like the current strategy has not worked in favor of the makers.

In the pre-screening collections of ₹24.25 crore, the Hindi (original) version has contributed ₹23.61 crore. On the other hand, the Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada versions have merely earned ₹0.32 crore, ₹0.26 crore, ₹0.03 crore and ₹0.02 crore respectively.
It would be interesting to see whether collections of dubbed languages pick up before the global release of “Dhurandhar 2” on March 19.
Also, the film is expected to face stiff competition in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana with Pawan Kalyan’s “Ustaad Bhagat Singh.” With the festive weekend of Ugadi and Gudi Padwa, both films are expected to attract huge crowds across their targeted markets.
“Dhurandhar 2,” which also features Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi among others, is directed by Aditya Dhar and bankrolled under the banners of B62 Studios and Jio Studios.
