Ritvik Sahore, known for his roles in projects like “Dangal,” “Flames,” “Indori Ishq,” “Campus Diaries,” “Jamnapaar” and “Highway Love,” plays Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam’s son, Aniket Nikam, in Rajkummar Rao-starrer "Prahaar."
Talking about his character, Sahore tells Variety India, “It was truly an honour to be a part of 'Prahaar' and get the opportunity to play Aniket Nikam. It is an important part in the film, and it was fun exploring Aniket’s relationship with his father, Ujjwal Nikam, and how the family stood together through everything. The film also explores Ujjwal Nikam's personal life. While he was busy fighting for justice, his family held the fort and served as his support system.”
Sharing what drew him to the film, he adds, “A lot of movies have been made around what happened on the night of 26/11, but not many know what happened in the courtrooms afterward to establish the crimes committed by Ajmal Kasab. I feel it is an extremely important chapter that needed to be told.”
Calling Rajkummar Rao, who plays Ujjwal Nikam, and director Avinash Arun ‘two greats,’ he shares, “It was an enriching experience for me as an actor to work alongside Rajkummar Rao and under the direction of Avinash Arun, two greats of the industry. I am extremely proud of the film and am glad I got to be a part of such an important story.”
Directed by Avinash Arun of “Killa” and “Three of Us” fame, the film explores Nikam’s roles in legal battles surrounding the 1993 Bombay bombings and 2008 Mumbai attacks.
It also stars Wamiqa Gabbi, Jaideep Ahlawat, Lalit Prabhakar and Sikandar Kher in key roles and is set to hit the screens on October 16.
