At a time when everyone is talking about the BAFTAs and Oscars 2026, a clip from China’s 38th Golden Rooster Awards featuring Jackson Yee is going viral. It has got over 6.4 million views on a film page on Instagram and everyone is raving about his performance in the movie, “Big World” that was released in 2024. The film did not get an international release but Jackson Yee (real name: Yi Yangqianxi) is being celebrated all over for his talent. While foreigners might have just discovered him, everyone in Chinese entertainment is aware of his histrionics skills. He is the first actor born after 2000 to win the prestigious Golden Rooster Award (China’s equivalent of Oscars) for Best Actor. Jackson Yee got selected for Beijing’s Central Academy Of Award in 2018 after scoring the top spot in live auditions and college entrance exams.

This was the highest-grossing Chinese film of 2023. "Full River Red" was directed by Zhang Yimou and was based on a meeting between Southern Song Dynasty and Jin Dynasty. Shen Teng and Jackson Yee formed the main cast along with Zhang Yi, Lei Jiayin and Yue Yunpeng. It is available on Viki.

Jackson Yee spent months preparing for the part. The movie was aimed to promote awareness for people with disabilities in Chinese society, a facet which is often overlooked.
