Arijit Singh on turning down new work with composers Pritam, Mithoon, A.R. Rahman: ‘Some people compose for themselves, not for anyone!’

Singer Arijit Singh took to X today (Feb. 24), making his account public to fans on the platform. In a heartfelt message shared with his followers he reaffirmed his commitment to stepping away from playback singing and reconfirmed that he has "stopped taking new assignments" in Bollywood.

The message, addressed to his fans read, "This message is just for my listeners. Please don't read and swipe right now if you are not my listener, it's a humble request."

With an emotional and gratitude-filled cognizance of their "kindness in this ruthless world," he continued, "Although I have stopped taking new assignments, the list of pending songs are not less you know. I will have to complete a lot of songs... there are so many unfinished songs, they are gonna keep releasing until done. May be through this whole year. may be it will touch next year, too [sic]."

When a fan commented, "You should not stop new assignments from Pritam, Mithoon and Rahman, it’s humble request of all your listeners [sic]," his reply to that, reflected his stand on the matter. He shot back, "Some people compose for themselves, not for anyone!"
