While popular Marathi film actor Amruta Khanvilkar enjoys watching reality television, the idea of participating in one doesn't excite her. Although she has been part of “Khatron Ke Khiladi” Season 10, she shares that she has repeatedly turned down “Bigg Boss.” Amruta reveals, “‘Bigg Boss’ (Hindi) has been offered to me many times, but knowing my temperament, I think I will either die or I will kill somebody inside.”
In an exclusive conversation with Variety India, Amruta, last seen in the Netflix series “Taskaree,” offers her thoughts on participating in “Bigg Boss.”

The show might not suit her personality, she avers. She finds the lack of boundaries troubling. She gets uncomfortable about how women are sometimes spoken to, on the show. She retorts, “Some boys just have no boundaries. They come to a woman and talk in a certain way. Just imagine a person like me. Will I ever allow anybody to come and talk to me like that? I will slash his throat [mimics a slashing action] with an invisible ‘talwar’ (sword) that I always carry.”
Khanvilkar emphasized that disrespect towards women is something she finds extremely difficult to tolerate, especially when it plays out publicly. “Disrespecting any woman on any grounds is unacceptable. Sometimes I see couples disrespecting their wives in interviews and I hate it. People say it is a joke. No, it’s not a joke. Not on television. Not in front of the camera,” she says emphatically.
Despite her reluctance to participate on one, Amruta admits she is a keen follower of reality shows and particularly remembers enjoying the first season of “Bigg Boss Marathi.” She says, “I was a big fan of Season 1 of the show. A lot of friends were part of the first season. That’s the OG one.” She recalls how her friends would regularly discuss the episodes.
The ‘Chandramukhi’ actor also spoke about her connection with Dipali Sayyad, who appears on the current season of BBM. “We’ve done a lot of shows together when I was just starting out. She was like a ‘didi’ (elder sister) to me at that point of time. She kind of hand-held me, telling me how to perform,” Khanvilkar adds. “She’s really amazing on the show. She’s managed to stay through all these weeks.”
