Amaal Mallik Reunites With Lyricist Rashmi Virag For Song In Emraan Hashmi-Starrer ‘Awarapan 2’ After 10-Year Gap (EXCLUSIVE)
It's reunion time for composer-singer Amaal Mallik and prolific lyricist Rashmi Virag who are all set for a hat-trick of hits starring Emraan Hashmi with the confirmation that Mallik is composing a track in the upcoming “Awarapan 2."
Mallik and Virag's first hit with Hashmi was the non-film single "Main Rahoon Ya Na Rahoon" in 2015. "Bol Do Na Zara" from “Azhar” (2016) was the second. Both remain enduring, popular hits. The track for “Awarapan 2,” composed by Mallik with lyrics by Virag and starring the actor yet again, is all poised to complete the hat-trick when it comes out closer to the film's release later this year. Interestingly, given their penchant for hit-making, the trio has not worked together in the years since, making the reunion extra-special for their fans.
“Awarapan,” also starring Hashmi, released in 2007, when Amaal was just 16. He remembers dreaming of getting a chance to work with Vishesh Films because he believes they focus solely on melodies rather than running after formulaic music. Speaking exclusively to Variety India, Amaal shares, "It’s been my dream since the age of 16 to work with the Bhatts. Now, when I am in my mid-30s, thanks to Mukesh Bhatt Sir, my dream is finally becoming a reality with 'Awarapan 2.'"

More details on the song, including its title, the singer and the release timeline, remain under wraps. Also, sources close to the project indicate that the song will serve as an emotional anchor within the sequel, drawing from the musical legacy of the original film.
While the original “Awarapan” was directed by Mohit Suri for Vishesh Films, Nitin Kakkar is at the helm for “Awarapan 2.” The 2007 film had Shriya Saran in the female lead, Disha Patani will star opposite Emraan in Part 2.
