‘Youth’ to Edge Past ‘Parasakthi’ to Become Second-Highest Tamil Grosser of 2026

Despite multiple releases during the Good Friday weekend, including “Carmeni Selvam,” “Neelira,” “Kaalidas 2,” and “Leader,” Ken Karunas’s “Youth” remained the first choice for moviegoers at the box office. The coming-of-age romantic drama, which arrived with Ranveer Singh’s “Dhurandhar 2” at the ticket windows, currently stands with a total of ₹48.39 crore.

The film will soon surpass the business of Sivakarthikeyan’s “Parasakthi” (₹53 crore) to become the second-highest Tamil grosser of the year. Apart from emerging as a bona fide box-office blockbuster, it has also become one of the most profitable ventures of the year due to its modest budget.

However, with the arrival of Pradeep Ranganathan and Krithi Shetty’s “Love Insurance Kompany” next week, “Youth” will face a screen crunch at the box office, thus impacting its theatrical run. “Youth” marks the directorial debut of lead actor Ken Karunas, with Viki and Nash handling the camera and editing departments, respectively.

The film also stars Suraj Venjaramoodu, Devadarshini, Anishma Anilkumar, Meenakshi Dinesh and Priyanshi Yadav in key roles. G. V. Prakash Kumar has composed the film’s music.

It is bankrolled by Karuppiah C Ram, Sulochana Kumar, Kali Rajkumar and Prabha Premkumar under the banners of Paarvathaa Entertainments, Street Boy Studios and Maali and Manvi Movie Makers.
