Will Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ Dethrone ‘Leo’ To Become His Biggest Opener?
Thalapathy Vijay’s “Jana Nayagan” arrives tomorrow, and the fans are set to make it a celebratory farewell event for the actor-turned-politician. So far, the film has officially clocked in a day-one advance gross of ₹15.44 crore without block seats and ₹21.26 crore with block seats, with 2.4 million tickets sold.
It has surpassed the pre-advance sales of “Varisu” (₹11.49 crore) and will cross “Master” (₹17 crore) in the next few hours. However, it would be interesting to see whether it would surpass “The Greatest Of All Time” (₹24.5 crore), “Beast” (₹31.75 crore) and “Leo,” which pulled an insane ₹46.36 crore in all-India advance bookings for day one.

The biggest disadvantage for “Jana Nayagan” is that only the Tamil market is doing all the heavy lifting while the Telugu and Hindi markets are way below the mark. On the other hand, these markets had a good contribution during “Leo”.
“Jana Nayagan” is opening with roughly 9,188 shows, which is on par with “Varisu”. However, it is very low compared to “Leo “’s massive 14,060 show count.
While the film might fail to overtake “Leo,” Vijay’s brand name will help it open with massive numbers regardless of pre-release controversies.
Directed by H. Vinoth of “Nerkonda Paarvai,” “Valimai” and “Thunivu” fame, the movie also features Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, and Mamitha Baiju in key roles. It is bankrolled by Venkat K. Narayana under the banner of KVN Productions. The music of “Jana Nayagan” is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
