Why actor-producer Yash is adamant about not Shifting ‘Toxic’ Release Date Amid Box Office Clash With Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar 2’? (EXCLUSIVE)
Ever since “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” announced its release for Eid 2026, there has been lots of chatter around its box office clash with KGF star Yash's “Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups.” Despite speculation of ‘Toxic's delays surfacing almost every other week, Yash has held firm to the March 19 date, refusing to blink in what is shaping up to be one of the most high-profile box office face-offs of the year.
With “Dhurandhar 2” positioned as one of the hottest films of the year and generating stronger buzz than “Toxic” in the Hindi belt, the obvious question in trade and distribution circles is: why hasn’t Yash shifted his film despite knowing that a clash would only hamper revenues for both projects?
There have been news reports that “Toxic” is moving their release date. But this is far from true. “Yash is not operating on ego, contrary to what many might think,” says a source close to the film. “Yash is a very good businessman. If he had felt threatened by ‘Dhurandhar 2,’ he would have maybe considered postponing it. But he has immense confidence in the film’s content and is banking on a long-term theatrical run rather than just an opening weekend.

The source continues, "'Toxic’ was officially announced three years back in December 2023. His fans have since been waiting to see him on screen. Yash doesn’t want to back off and disappoint his fans." However, Yash is believed to be irked that the makers of “Dhurandhar” didn't inform him about their Eid release plan, knowing fully well they had blocked the date last year.
“‘Toxic’ announced its date in March last year. If ‘Dhurandhar 2’ was coming on that date, they should have at least given him a courtesy call. The team feels that the Hindi film industry doesn't have that culture of communication that is common in the southern industries,” adds the source.
With both films certainly releasing on the same date, the upcoming Eid weekend promises a thrilling showdown at the box office. The battle for screens has already started, and publicity teams on both sides are already in overdrive, with aggressive projections and deal figures being floated in the media to build momentum.
As for now, the Hindi belts seem to be preferring “Dhurandhar 2,” courtesy the box office records and anticipation its first part has created, while “Toxic” is set to dominate the Southern markets, where Yash has a loyal and massive fan following.
