Tovino Thomas’s Pallichattambi Teaser Makes A Fiery Entry

The stylised teaser has all the elements of a small-town drama that blows out of proportion. The treatment given to Pallichattambi teaser gives it a larger-than-life vibe. Director Dijo Joseph sets the backdrop of this much awaited film, in a migrant farm belong to the 50s era. The film has a very rugged aesthetic, with night sequences that come alive with brightly lit fire in the background. The music is eerily dramatic setting the mood for a high-octane action drama. The teaser is centred around a Church, which the natives are attempting to protect from evil hands. The period drama also encapsules gory scenes of villagers being whipped in the fields creating a melancholic mood.

There appears to be a supernatural touch, depicting a battle between good and evil leaving fans yearning for more. The last shot in the teaser skilfully depicts a flaming torch heading purposely in one direction, depicting a fiery outcome ahead. What is impresses is how the director has managed to merge all these multiple factors into one cohesive 10-minute teaser.

As per the premise of the film, Tovino Thomas plays a scheming man Chattambi who survives in a small town by always staying one step ahead of his neighbours. He constantly comes up with risky schemes till one day his plans get the better of him.  And now his survival depends on how he extricates himself from this mess. In keeping with his character, Tovino has opted for a never-seen-before rustic look.

The film will release on April 10, a day after the Kerala Assembly elections. This appears to be like an action-packed year for Tovino who has another film. Athiradi, coming up in May this year.
