‘The Odyssey,’ ‘Supergirl’ and ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Set Up June and July Showdown: Can Hollywood Take on Bollywood?

Bollywood dominated the first quarter of 2026  with the record-breaking “Dhurandhar 2” rewriting box-office history and “Border 2,” “Mardaani 3” and “The Kerala Story 2” also did well at the ticket windows.

Hollywood, on the other hand, has had a relatively sluggish start here, with only Ryan Gosling’s “Project Hail Mary” making a mark and “Hoppers” putting up a decent show.

But the great turnaround in Hollywood fortunes in the Indian market is expected in June and July, when big-ticket and content-driven films that are expected to set new benchmarks at the box office arrive. Here’s what the Hollywood fare in those months looks like:

June 5: Masters Of The Universe

The sword-and-sorcery film is based on the Masters of the Universe media franchise by Mattel. The film stars Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam / He-Man, with Camila Mendes, Alison Brie, James Purefoy, Morena Baccarin, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Charlotte Riley, Kristen Wiig, Jared Leto and Idris Elba in supporting roles. The nostalgia factor among the He-Man fans is expected to play a crucial role in giving the film a bumper opening.

June 12: Disclosure Day

Steven Spielberg, the legendary filmmaker, is making a comeback after four years with a science fiction film titled “Disclosure Day.” The intriguing venture features Emily Blunt, Josh O'Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson and Colman Domingo in key roles.

The sequel to “Toy Story 4” will see Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Tony Hale, John Ratzenberger, Wallace Shawn, Blake Clark, Annie Potts, Bonnie Hunt, Kristen Schaal, Keanu Reeves, and Melissa Villaseñor reprising their roles with Greta Lee, Conan O'Brien, Craig Robinson, Shelby Rabara, Scarlett Spears, Mykal-Michelle Harris, Matty Matheson, Jeff Bergman, Anna Vocino, John Hopkins and Ernie Hudson as new additions.

June 26: Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow

The DC Superhero film features Kara Zor-El / Supergirl, alongside Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham and Jason Momoa. Bankrolled by James Gunn and Peter Safran of DC Studios, it is directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira.

July 1: Minions 3

Directed by Pierre Coffin and written by Coffin and Brian Lynch, the film features the voices of Trey Parker, Jesse Eisenberg, Zoey Deutch, Allison Janney, Bobby Moynihan, Phil LaMarr, Christoph Waltz and Jeff Bridges.

July 10: Moana

The live-action musical adventure is the third installment in the Moana franchise. Directed by Thomas Kail in his feature directorial debut, it features Dwayne Johnson reprising his role as Maui and Catherine Laga'aia in her film debut as the title character.

July 17: The Odyssey

Written and directed by the legendary filmmaker, Christopher Nolan, “The Odyssey” is an adaptation of Homer's ancient Greek epic. Featuring Matt Damon as Odysseus, the Greek king of Ithaca, the epic fantasy action is the first film to be shot entirely on IMAX's 70 mm film cameras. The film also features Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Zendaya and Charlize Theron in pivotal roles.
