‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’: Anne Hathaway Reveals She Knew the Script Would Be Amazing After Finding Out That Meryl Streep Loved It
There is no disputing that “The Devil Wears Prada 2” is the summer movie of the year. Fans of Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) and Andrea Sachs (Anne Hathaway) have been waiting to see the iconic mentor-protege duo back on screens. The two actresses were in Tokyo, Japan, for a big fan event. “The Devil Wears Prada 2” also stars Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci. When she was speaking to fans on stage, Anne Hathaway expressed how the sequel’s script had her instantly hooked, and her reunion with Streep on the big screen after two decades.

She said, “My first thought was 'Did Meryl read it yet? What did she think?' And then I heard yes, Meryl did read it and she loved it. Well, this has to be amazing. And I read it and it was beyond what I hoped for. I think over the years we've all wondered what Miranda, Andy, Emily and Nigel were up to, and I guarantee you, anything we thought of did not come close to what (writer) Aline Brosh McKenna has come up with for all of us. And it was a joy to make it.”
This season, we will see Miranda Priestly dealing with the decline of traditional print media as she navigates the landscape of digital journalism. She has to reunite with her former assistant, Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt), who has access to all the funds she needs. David Frankel is back as the director, while Aline Brosh McKenna has written the script.
"Bridgerton" fans are happy to see Simone Ashley in the sequel. Her scene from a recent promo went viral. Other new additions in the cast are Kenneth Branagh, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet, B.J. Novak and Conrad Ricamora.
20th Century Fox has been promoting the film in a creative and aggressive manner. “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” produced by Wendy Finerman, is releasing on May 1, 2026.
