Sunny Deol Begins Shooting For Excel Entertainment’s ‘Antony’, Vijay Varma Joins as Antagonist
Following the resounding success of “Border 2,” Sunny Deol is back on sets as the shooting for his new action thriller, “Antony,” has officially kicked off in Mumbai.
Deol stars alongside Tamil actress Jyotika and “Gully Boy” fame Vijay Varma in this film. Varma has been roped in as the antagonist, marking his first collaboration with the 68-year-old superstar. Shooting began on February 27 in Mumbai and is expected to be wrapped by July 2026 for a theatrical release in early 2027. Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidwani's Excel Entertainment produce the project in collaboration with A.R. Murugadoss' banner.

“Antony” is billed as a suspense-driven action thriller that features Deol in a full-fledged action role. The film is being directed by debutante Balaji Ganesh, a Chennai-based filmmaker who has previously assisted Murugadoss on numerous big-scale projects.
Deol was recently seen in Anurag Singh's “Border 2,” which has emerged as the biggest success of the year so far. The 1971 Indo-Pak war drama has earned over 327 crore net in India and nearly 450 crore worldwide in 39 days. Up next, he will feature in Shashank Udapurkar’s “Gabru,” set to release in theatres on May 8, 2026. The film presents him in a powerful and emotionally resonant role that celebrates strength, spirit, and rooted storytelling.
Deol also has two more films releasing this year. Rajkumar Santoshi's action drama, “Lahore 1947,” hits cinemas during the Independence Day weekend, while Nitesh Tiwari's most-anticipated “Ramayana Part 1” will release during Diwali. The latter features him in the role of Lord Hanuman.
