Seedance 2.0 Gets Called Out By SAG-AFTRA, Disney And Other Major Hollywood Stakeholders After Viral Tom Cruise-Brad Pitt Fight Video

By ,

The AI-generated video of Tom Cruise-Brad Pitt’s fight has created a controversy in Hollywood. It was made by Seedance 2.0, a new AI-making video tool by ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company. We could see the two superstars engage in a physical fight on a rooftop. The AI video sparked instant backlash after it generated more deepfake videos. Clips taken from copyrighted Hollywood films and TV shows, went viral. As per ByteDance, the tool is used for professional use. Hollywood writers have lashed out against Seedance 2.0 and the matter is intensifying. It seems Disney has sent a cease-and-desist letter to ByteDance, raising concerns over alleged misuse of copyrighted film and television material.

SAG-AFTRA has also called out the platform for “blatant infringement,” in a strongly worded statement on Instagram. It read: SAG-AFTRA stands with the studios in condemning the blatant infringement enabled by Bytedance's new AI video model Seedance 2.0. The infringement includes the unauthorized use of our members' voices and likenesses. This is unacceptable and undercuts the ability of human talent to earn a livelihood. Seedance 2.0 disregards law, ethics, industry standards and basic principles of consent. Responsible AI development demands responsibility, and that is nonexistent here.

The Motion Picture Association in a statement lashed out at Seedance 2.0 saying it has engaged in "unauthorised use of U.S. copyrighted works on a massive scale." They said ByteDance disregarded well-established copyright laws that protected rights of creators and impacted American jobs. They said it should immediately cease its infringing activities.

Disney has sent a cease-and-desist letter to TikTok’s parent company. It lashed out at the firm for stocking their new AI tool with a “pirated library of Disney’s copyrighted characters.”
