Salman Khan, Vamshi Paidipally Team Up For A Dil Raju Production; All That You Need To Know About The Hitmaker

By Nayare Ali

In an exciting development, Hyderabad-based film director Vamshi Paidipally has joined hands with actor Salman Khan and Dil Raju for a big film that is going on the floors shortly. Variety India profiles this popular Telugu cinema director, who has singlehandedly managed to sign up Salman Khan for his next film.

He is the director with the Midas touch. Vamshi Paidipally has virtually worked with all of South India’s top stars including Prabhas, Mahesh Babu, Ram Charan, Karthi and Thalapathy Vijay. He has now made his Hindi movie debut with Salman Khan, with the film scheduled to start shooting later this month.

And now that he has made his presence nationally, fans are curious to know more about this reticent director who prefers to let his work speak for itself. The film with Salman Khan has been tentatively titled "SVC63" and promises to be a high-octane drama, showcasing Salman in a new avatar. The film is expected to release next year. While his collaboration with Salman Khan is new, it was Dil Raju who offered Vamshi his first directorial venture, the Prabhas starrer, "Munna" in 2007. While "Munna" failed at the box-office, their next outing, "Brindavanam" with Jr. NTR in 2010 was a huge hit. Since then, there has been no looking back for this director with a Midas touch. This was followed by another blockbuster hit, "Yevadu" with Ram Charan in 2014 that made around ₹85 crores.

In 2016, he achieved both commercial success and critical acclaim with his Telugu-Tamil bilingual film "Oopiri/Thozha," starring Karthi and Nagarjuna, which was an adaptation of the French film The Intouchables.

He teamed up again with Dil Raju to direct the National award-winning film, "Maharshi" with Mahesh Babu, which made ₹176 Crore crores at the box office.

In September 2021, Dil Raju signed him to direct Thalapathy Vijay's 66th film "Varisu." When this film released in 2023, it became Vijay’s highest grossing film having earned ₹300 crores worldwide.
