‘KHxRK’ Glimpse: Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth Bring Old-School Charm and Eternal Swag To Their First Reunion In 47 Years

Fans of Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have been on cloud nine ever since Red Giant Movies announced a film bringing the two legends together after 47 years. While details of the cast and crew have been shared on social media through strategic posts, the production house, who has tentatively titled the biggie as "KHxRK" has now shared a clip of director Nelson Dilipkumar in conversation with the two megastars as they select their outfits.

Later, the duo shows off their swag, dressed in classy outfits. The clip evoked nostalgia among their legion of fans, for whom this film promises to be a trip down memory lane.

The project, which will soon go on floors, will be directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, who has previously worked with Rajinikanth in “Jailer.” Music for this biggie will be composed, arranged and produced by Anirudh Ravichander, R. Nirmal will handle the editing department and the camera will be cranked by Rajiv Menon. Suren G and Alagiakoothan will be doing the sound design.

Before Nelson, several other directors were in the running to helm this film, including Lokesh Kanagaraj, who subsequently decided to step away. At a recent press meet, Lokesh said that the two superstars preferred a lighter, comedy-leaning approach, and since he didn’t think he was the right person for that, he backed out of the project.

Another filmmaker, Sundar C, who had earlier directed Kamal in "Anbe Sivam" and Rajinikanth in "Arunachalam," claimed that he had to leave the project due to "unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances.”

Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth last shared screen space in K Balachander’s “Thillu Mullu” (1981), in which ‘Ulganayagan’ played a cameo in the climax.

“KHxRK” is expected to arrive in cinemas in 2027.
