Bollywood’s two new releases, “Assi” and “Do Deewane Seher Mein” arrived yesterday in cinemas, and though there were no great expectations from either at the box office, their abysmal opening numbers do not bode well for the films.
While the romantic drama featuring Siddhanth Chaturvedi and Mrunal Thakur raked in a mere ₹1.25 crore, Taapsee’s hard-hitting drama collected only ₹1 crore on the first day.
Unfortunately, of late, the lead actors of both films have been delivering a string of flops at the ticket windows. Chaturvedi’s previous movies, “Yudhra” and “Dhadak 2,” failed to find audiences in cinemas and Mrunal’s “The Family Star” and “Son of Sardaar 2” turned out to be disappointing affairs at the box office.
Talking about Taapsee, her last release, “Khel Khel Mein,” was a forgettable film.

It also features Kani Kusruti, Revathy, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Naseeruddin Shah, Supriya Pathak and Seema Pahwa in key roles. The film marks the reunion of Anubhav Sinha and Taapsee Pannu after “Mulk” and “Thappad.”
