Rishab Shetty’s ‘The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’ Onboards ‘Game Of Thrones’ and ‘Troy: Fall Of A City’ Action Directors (EXCLUSIVE)

Rishab Shetty, who became a household name with the “Kantara” franchise, is all set to portray the legendary Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Sandeep Singh’s directorial, titled “The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.” 

While it would be interesting to see how Shetty embraces the iconic warrior, as several Hindi and Marathi stars have played the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on screen, the makers are leaving no stone unturned to make it an action spectacle.

The makers have roped in an award-winning, internationally acclaimed team of action directors who have contributed to some of the biggest productions worldwide. The team is led by Mark Henson, known for his work on “Game of Thrones,” “Vikings,” “The Witcher,” and “Gravity.” Apart from Henson, Vlad Rimburg of “The Fate of the Furious,” “Bloodshot” and “Lucifer” fame, and Craig Macrae, known for “Troy: Fall of a City,” have joined the team.

Earlier, the project was announced as a single feature based on the life and legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. However, Variety India had exclusively shared that the makers have expanded the project into two parts, with the first chapter arriving in 2028, followed by the second in 2029. Mounted on an estimated budget of more than ₹500 crore, the film is expected to be shot across Maharashtra, where Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj established his kingdom.

Arjun Rampal will play one of the major antagonists in the film, which also features Shefali Shah as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s mother, Rajmata Jijabai.  

Meanwhile, Rishab Shetty will next be seen in “Jai Hanuman,” directed by Prashanth Varma. The sequel to “HanuMan” also stars Amritha Aiyer, Rana Daggubati and Teja Sajja in prominent roles.
