Ram Charan And Janhvi Kapoor On Sharing The Screen in ‘Peddi’: “It Honors Our Parents’ Legacy”

The upcoming sports drama Peddi is already generating massive interest, but the excitement reached a whole new level at the film's recent trailer launch in Mumbai. Lead actors Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor opened up about the deep emotional weight and nostalgia behind their on-screen pairing — a collaboration that directly honors the legendary cinematic legacy of their parents, the megastar Chiranjeevi and the late, great Sridevi.

While Peddi marks the very first time Ram Charan and Janhvi are sharing the frame, the pairing feels instantly familiar to Indian cinema fans. Decades ago, Chiranjeevi and Sridevi ruled the Telugu film industry, delivering iconic blockbusters like “Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari” and “Rani Kasula Rangamma”. Their chemistry and effortless performances made them one of the most beloved on-screen couples in history.

For Ram Charan, stepping onto the set with Janhvi felt like fulfilling a long-awaited dream for millions of fans. Speaking warmly about the collaboration, he said: "My dad and Sridevi worked together. It was a long-standing wish for our family, our fans, and those who appreciated our parents (on screen) )that we do a film together. It’s a nostalgic feeling for all of us, and this pair will not disappoint you. She has done her best."

Janhvi Kapoor echoed those heartfelt sentiments, touching upon the unique, cosmic bond she feels with the Telugu audience. Despite being born and raised in Mumbai, Janhvi shared that the Telugu-speaking states have always felt like a second home to her.

"I understand there’s a different kind of attachment to us," Janhvi expressed at the event. "It felt cosmic to come together for a very special film with him (Ram Charan) and to get to know him, because he really is the best person."

Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi also features Divyenndu Sharma, Shiva Rajkumar and Jagapathi Babu and is set to release in cinemas on June 4.
