‘Peddi’ On Chopping Block, Returns To Editing Table
By Subhash K Jha,
Following the uproar regarding the overt sexualization of Janhvi Kapoor's character Achiyamma in the just-released "Peddi," director Buchi Babu Sana acknowledged the public outrage and said rectifications would be made soon. However, Variety India has now learnt that it isn't just Kapoor's scenes being re-edited.
Keeping in mind the tepid response the film received in the Hindi belt, the film is now getting snipped to make it crisper and more palatable for Hindi viewers.

Offensive scenes that objectified Janhvi Kapoor will be clipped out, of course. At the same time, certain expletives and some innuendo (spouted by Divyenndu) will also be left on the editing floor.
In any case, Janhvi's and Divyenndu's roles were kept to the bare minimum and this move could further diminish their parts in the film.
Some flashback scenes in the second half, featuring Shiva Rajkumar (who plays Peddi's wrestling mentor Gournaidu in the film) will likely be shortened. Scenes between Ram Charan and Jagapathi Babu (who plays Appalasoori) are also being re-edited. Some portions featuring Boman Irani (who plays an Indian Olympics Association member) are also expected to be cut.
The revised edition will go in for fresh censor certification and the new version will begin screening in theatres, June 13 onwards. "Peddi" originally released on June 4.
At the end of its theatrical run, the film will be available for streaming on Netflix in the original version.
