Yami Gautam’s “Nayyi Navelli” has taken the lead over Rajkummar Rao’s “Prahaar: The Ujjwal Nikam Story” at the box office on opening day. Both films arrived in cinemas on Friday, October 16, but Gautam’s horror comedy registered the stronger start, collecting an estimated ₹3.25 crore net in India and ₹4.58 crore worldwide, according to Sacnilk.

“Prahaar”, meanwhile, earned ₹2.35 crore net in India on its first day. With an India gross of ₹2.77 crore and an overseas gross of ₹75 lakh, the biographical drama’s worldwide collection stands at ₹3.52 crore.

The difference between the two films is ₹90 lakh in domestic net collections and ₹1.06 crore in worldwide gross. While “Nayyi Navelli” has emerged ahead in the opening-day comparison, both films will need to build momentum over the weekend to strengthen their theatrical runs.

“Nayyi Navelli” Box Office Collection Day 1

“Nayyi Navelli” collected ₹3.25 crore net in India across 6,281 shows on Friday, according to Sacnilk’s estimates. Its India gross stands at ₹3.83 crore, while the reported overseas gross of ₹75 lakh takes its worldwide collection to ₹4.58 crore.

The film recorded an overall opening-day occupancy of 11%, with an estimated 1.55 lakh footfalls. The opening gives Gautam’s latest release an early advantage over its direct box office competition, although its performance over Saturday and Sunday will offer a clearer indication of audience interest.
