‘Masters Of The Universe’ Trailer Review: Nicholas Galitzine Looks the Part, but the Film Still Holds a Few Cards Back

After being stuck in development limbo forever, “Masters Of The Universe" finally dropped the film's first trailer, following up on the teaser that dropped in January 2026. Giving us a detailed look at He-Man, the new visualizer proves that this is not a reboot trying too hard to modernise itself into something unrecognisable. It looks loud, mythic, dramatic and very much rooted in the fantasy weirdness that made the property so iconic in the first place. That already works in its favour.

Nicholas Galitzine, who steps into the role of Prince Adam aka He-Man, definitely looks convincing in the part. He has the physicality, the screen presence and just enough restraint in the footage to avoid making the character feel like a parody of himself.

Visually, the trailer for the Travis Knight-directed film is trying hard to sell scale and for the most part, it succeeds. There is enough here to suggest that the film is going big on world-building, mythology and spectacle instead of shrinking itself into a generic action movie. The iconography is all there, the fantasy setting seems intact and the tone mostly stays committed to the world it is building. That matters with a film like this, because the second it starts acting too self-aware, the whole thing falls apart.

That said, the trailer does leave behind a few question marks. Some of the imagery looks exciting, but not all of it fully lands yet. There are moments where the world feels rich and textured, and then there are bits that still feel slightly too mounted and polished. The bigger doubt, though, is tone. “Masters Of The Universe” has always been a tricky property because it can very easily tip into something unintentionally silly if the film is not careful. The trailer does not completely solve that concern yet. We only get a blink-and-miss visual of Skeletor played by Jared Leto.

Still, as a first look, this does enough. It gives the film shape, gives Galitzine a solid hero entry and most importantly, suggests that the team understands this world only works if you go all in. Right now, it looks like they are at least trying to.
