‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2’ Actor Amar Upadhyay Elated As Son Aryaman Preps For Acting Debut (EXCLUSIVE)

Amar Upadhyay is basking in the success of “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2," which is on top of the TRP charts. Later in the year, he will be seen in Hansal Mehta’s “Gandhi," a web series that explores the life of Mahatma Gandhi in London. Amar Upadhyay’s son Aryaman has worked as an assistant director on the show. The TV veteran is happy and surprised to see his son’s passion for the movies. “He was an AD (assistant director) and managed the British crew for 110 days. Aryaman is a very hard-working and intelligent boy. I was amazed seeing how efficiently he managed a crew of 350 people under the supervision of Hansal Mehta Sir.”

He further discloses that Aryaman has been a second assistant director for Hansal’s “Family Business” too. “In total, he has worked under Sir [Hansal Mehta] for almost 200 days. Now, he is slated to debut on the Gujarati stage,” shares the proud father. Aryaman has graduated in filmmaking from Usha Pravin Gandhi College, and has a black belt in taekwondo. Upadhyay shares that Hansal urged Aryaman to leave direction and focus on making a career in acting.

Upadhyay says, “He came home and shared it with Hetal (his mother) and me. I was like, “Why not? If you have it in you, then give it a shot”.’ I believe the first step is performing on stage (theater). I believe Gujarati shows are the best platform, as they have a minimum of 80-90 shows in India and abroad over a span of a few months. The attendance for such dramas is also one of the best. This equips a budding actor with the right skills due to intense preparation and regular execution. I have told him to follow this up with one more drama. When he debuts in front of the camera after such intense preparation, he will stand out nicely. He should prove that he is very comfortable in front of the camera.”

The "Doree" actor says while his son has the looks, dancing skills, and knowledge of martial arts, theater is the “basic school” of acting. “He will train for two years, and when Hansal Sir feels he is ready, we will think of his debut,” he shares.
