Konkona Sen Sharma’s Comedy Series Locks Aditi Rao Hydari And Barun Sobti As Leads (EXCLUSIVE)

Leads are locked for Konkona Sen Sharma's maiden web series. Aditi Rao Hydari (‘Heeramandi’, ‘Jubilee’) and Barun Sobti (‘Asur’, ‘Kohrra’) will headline Konkona's comedy show for Amazon Prime Video, Variety India has learned exclusively.

She directs the show alongside Jaydeep Sarkar, who previously helmed projects like ‘Feels Like Ishq’ (2021) and ‘Rainbow Rishta’ (2023).

Konkona, who was looking for a fresh, young pairing,  found the perfect fit in Aditi and Barun—two popular stars with strong individual fan followings in the romance genre, and who have never shared screen space together. The entertainment industry was already brimming with excitement for Konkona’s web series directorial debut, and this casting has only added to that.

Plot details have been kept tightly under wraps, but the show is stated to be a contemporary romantic comedy set against the vibrant backdrop of South Delhi. Shooting has commenced and the show is likely to premiere in late 2026 or early 2027.

Last seen in Rohan Sippy’s JioHotstar crime thriller series, ‘Search: The Naina Murder Case,’ Konkona is making her directorial comeback after three years with this yet-untitled show. She made her striking directorial debut with the critically acclaimed ‘A Death In the Gunj’ (2017), starring Vikrant Massey and Kalki Koechlin, and last helmed a short story in Netflix India’s ‘Lust Stories 2’ (2023).

Aditi was recently seen alongside Vijay Sethupathi and Arvind Swamy in Zee Studios’ silent film, ‘Gandhi Talks,’ and will next feature opposite her husband, Siddharth, in Netflix India’s ‘Lust Stories 3,’ directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. She also has Imtiaz Ali’s romantic series, ‘O Saathi Re’ with Arjun Rampal and Avinash Tiwary, and Varun V. Sharma’s ‘Parivarik Manuranjan’ with Pankaj Tripathi lined up. Meanwhile, Barun will next feature opposite Hasleen Kaur in Hardik Mehta’s family comedy series, ‘Ikatthe’. He also has the third season of Asur set to go on floors in mid-2026.
