Janhvi Kapoor Collaborates with ‘Pagglait’ Director Umesh Bist For Her Next (EXCLUSIVE)
Janhvi Kapoor has joined hands with director Umesh Bist of “Pagglait” fame for her next. Bankrolled by Ekta Kapoor and Guneet Monga under their banners Balaji Motion Pictures and Sikhya Entertainment, the untitled venture will go on floors around October-November this year.
Known for his gripping, subtle yet powerful storytelling, Bist’s impressive work includes web shows “The Trial” Season 2, “Gyaarah Gyaarah” and “Kaun? Who Did It?”.
On the other hand, Kapoor has done a good amount of women-led films including “Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl”, “Roohi”, “Good Luck Jerry”, “Mili” and “Ulajh” so far. With Kapoor and Bist teaming up, the project can emerge as an unconventional affair with solid commercial value.

Interestingly, the filmmaker is also returning to helm the sequel of “Pagglait,” taking the narrative forward with a fresh perspective, with Sanya Malhotra reprising the lead role. Just like the first part, the Sikhya Entertainment and Netflix India production venture is expected to retain the distinctive blend of humour and emotional depth.
It would be interesting to see whether the director will juggle between “Pagglait 2” and Janhvi’s film, or opt for one film at a time.
Janhvi Kapoor is currently filming the romantic revenge drama, “Lag Jaa Gale,” where she stars alongside Tiger Shroff and Lakshya. Bankrolled by Dharma Productions, the film is directed by Raj Mehta of “Good Newwz,” “Jugjugg Jeeyo” and “Selfiee” fame and is set to hit the screens on May 14, 2027.
