Hansal Mehta’s ‘Scam 2010’ Begins Production In May (EXCLUSIVE)

One of India’s most popular web series, Scam, is returning for a third season. Variety India has exclusively learned that "Scam Season 3," officially titled “Scam 2010: The Subrata Roy Saga", will begin filming at the end of May, with a premiere planned for early 2027 on Sony LIV.

The lead cast has been finalized, though their identities are being kept under wraps for the time being. Hansal Mehta, who co-directed the first season with his son Jai Mehta and handed over most of the directorial responsibilities to Tushar Hiranandani in the second season, will return to helm the new chapter, which explores another infamous financial scandal in India’s economic history. The show is produced by Sameer Nair’s Applause Entertainment in association with Studio Next.

"Scam 3" will chronicle the audacious rise of Subrata Roy, the maverick businessman behind Sahara India Pariwar, and the sweeping financial fraud allegations surrounding the conglomerate. Based on Tamal Bandyopadhyay’s 2014 book “Sahara: The Untold Story", the new season will trace the growth of the vast empire and the prolonged legal battles that followed. Staying true to the tone of the franchise’s earlier seasons, the series will examine the contradictions in Roy’s public persona while unpacking the complex intersections of markets, governance and accountability in modern Indian finance.
