From ‘Dhurandhar 2’ and ‘Varanasi’ to ‘Ramayana’ and ‘Toxic’: 5 Films That Could Breach the ₹1000-Crore Mark at the Box-Office
Over the past few years, Indian films have worked wonders at the box-office. Many of them crossed the milestone of ₹500-crore mark at the domestic market. However, only two titles - “Baahubali 2” (₹1030.42 crore) and “Pushpa 2” (₹1234.10 crore) have managed to enter the elusive club of ₹1000 Crore in India.
We are betting on these five movies to take a shot at this exclusive club of ₹1000-crore.

Dhurandhar 2
After the blockbuster success of the first part, which raked in close to ₹840 crore at the domestic market, the buzz for the second part has been unprecedented. Unlike its prequel, “Dhurandhar 2” will also release in the dubbed languages of Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. With the power-packed ensemble of Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Rampal reprising their characters and Aditya Dhar’s gripping direction, the spy-action thriller has all the ingredients to create a new benchmark at the box office.
Toxic
Yash-starrer “Toxic” has been in the news ever since its conception, and after the makers dropped its promotional assets, the hype of the period gangster film has gone to another level. Despite clashing with “Dhurandhar 2” during the Eid weekend, Geetu Mohandas’s directorial has the potential to open with mind-boggling numbers, with the leading star returning to the screen after the blockbuster success of “KGF 2”.
Varanasi
SS Rajamouli, the maverick filmmaker, who took India to the global map with universal blockbusters like “Baahubali: The Beginning,” “Baahubali: The Conclusion” and “RRR,” has teamed up with the ‘Prince of Tollywood,’ Mahesh Babu, for the epic action-adventure movie titled “Varanasi”. The director has gone all out to give the viewers a never-before-seen experience with his engaging storytelling and breathtaking sequences. Made on a budget of around ₹1300 crore, “Varanasi” also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Priyanka Chopra and Prakash Raj in key roles.
Ramayana
With “Ramayana” featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, Sunny Deol and Ravie Dubey, the makers aim to narrate the most epic story of the country with breathtaking visuals, powerful BGM and in-depth storytelling. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari of “Bawaal,” “Chhichhore” and “Dangal” fame, the film is billed to be the most expensive Indian film ever made.
AA26xA6
Director Atlee, known for helming blockbusters like “Jawan,” “Mersal,” “Theri” and “Bigil,” has collaborated with Allu Arjun for a VFX-driven spectacle, tentatively titled “AA26xA6”. The Sun Pictures production has been mounted on a budget of ₹800 crore and also features Deepika Padukone, Janhvi Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur in prominent roles.
