‘Films Like ‘Dhurandhar 2’ Are Made for the Scale, Sound and Emotion That Only Cinemas Can Deliver’: PVR INOX’s Gautam Dutta (EXCLUSIVE)
Ranveer Singh-starrer “Dhurandhar 2” is already shattering several box office records even before arriving in cinema halls. The makers of the spy actioner announced paid previews alongside the power-packed trailer. Since then, tickets for “Dhurandhar 2” have been selling like hotcakes despite the high prices.
The film has already surpassed “Stree 2” to become the highest Bollywood grosser in paid preview shows, and with such strong momentum, “Dhurandhar 2” has the potential to beat Pawan Kalyan’s “They Call Him OG” and emerge as the highest Indian paid-preview grosser.
The Aditya Dhar-directed film has already sold over 150,000 advance tickets through PVR INOX. Talking about this milestone, Gautam Dutta, CEO – Growth and Revenue of the multiplex chain, tells Variety India, “Films like ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ are made for the scale, sound and emotion that only cinemas can deliver, and we look forward to welcoming audiences for what promises to be a spectacular cinematic celebration. The response so far has been phenomenal, with advance bookings already crossing 150,000 tickets and preview shows expected to run at full capacity. Given the strong demand, we are bringing the film to a wider network of our cinemas so that audiences across the country can experience it together on the big screen. If the current momentum continues, we believe ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ has the potential to surpass the success of the first film and set new benchmarks for Bollywood.”
Speaking about the record-breaking sales of pre-release screening tickets, he adds, “At PVR INOX, we are seeing momentum that is truly exceptional. We have already surpassed 150,000 tickets in advance sales, and we are anticipating full-capacity audiences for the preview screenings of ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ nationwide. Bankrolled under the banners of B62 Studios and Jio Studios, the film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi, among others. It is set to arrive on March 19.
