Canadian rapper Drake is out of the 2027 Grammys run. The “Janice STFU” hitmaker released his ninth studio album “ICEMAN” on May 15 earlier this year. It was accompanied by two surprise LP drops, his tenth and eleventh, on the same day. The triple-album release made it a crucial year for the singer, who was expected to make big waves this upcoming awards season. However, a recent update makes it seem that his beef with the Recording Academy is far from over. He is sticking to his "This album, I'm never submittin' it" lyric from the song "Make Them Know" off his 2026 album.

Billboard has reported that Drake did not submit his three 2026 albums or any of the songs from them for Grammy Awards consideration. This pulls him out of the competition altogether, a notion being imitated by other artists across the board for a multitude of reasons. While the 39-year-old’s reasons for stepping away from the awards event are not known as of now, his dispute with the Recording Academy remains well-known.

In the past, the singer kicked off his show of displeasure against the Academy, adding the lyric, “I could give two fucks ‘bout where the Grammys go” to his verse on Big Sean’s “Blessings” with Kanye West. He also withdrew his nominations, “Certified Lover Boy” (Best Rap Album) and “Way 2 Sexy” (featuring Future and Young Thug) (Best Rap Performance) from the 2022 ceremony. He also did not submit “Honestly, Nevermind” in 2023 and with his decision this year, the rapper has continued to steer clear of the awards.

Previously, BTS announced their decision to not have their music up for the race this year after the introduction of the controversial Best Asian Pop Performance category. The sentiment has been replicated by fellow K-Pop stars Stray Kids and ATEEZ. Grammys have maintained their stance to continue with the award despite backlash.
