Divyanka Tripathi, Vivek Dahiya Get Candid About Embracing Parenthood In Their 40s (EXCLUSIVE)

Divyanka Tripathi and Vivek Dahiya will become parents in June 2026. The couple who got married in 2016, made the news official on Instagram. Divyanka and Vivek met on the sets of her iconic TV serial, “Yeh Hai Mohabbatein,” and began to court after a common friend brought them closer.

Vivek reveals that they have become inundated with messages since the baby-on-the-way announcment on social media, “The phone has not stopped ringing since the morning. So far, only our family members knew about it. We kept it low-key as we wanted to announce it only after we were confident about everything being on track. It is overwhelming now with so many people telling me that I am going to be a papa soon.”

Divyanka tells us that she stayed mostly at home for the last few months on her doctor’s advice, saying,“Reports of me expecting a baby have been making the rounds, every four months, for the last five years.” (laughs).

She further adds, “I did not take up much work after getting pregnant. My doctor advised me to reduce my workout also. So, I kind of confined myself indoors, but now that six months have passed, we felt it was a good time to make the announcment.” Vivek says their friends have been very supportive and have been telling them how this is the best phase of our lives. “Also, they told me to sleep as much as I want before the little one arrives as we will get no sleep for the first six months,” he laughs.

The couple got married in Bhopal, a decade ago, after a courtship period of six months. This will be Divyanka and Vivek’s first born. The actress reveals, that parents on both sides didn’t pressure them to have a child. They wanted the couple to decide for themselves. “Thankfully, they were like, you need to be emotionally and mentally prepared to have children. Our parents told us to spend time as a couple before we decided to embark on this journey," she says.

The couple reveals they arrived on the same page about parenthood by mid-2024 and began planning after that. Divyanka says, “It was the time when our thoughts about having a baby started to align. I guessed we were mentally prepared for the journey ahead. Post that, I began to plan for the child…checking those pregnancy strips to see if we had been blessed (smiles).”

The actress also addressed the topic of how a woman’s age was discussed at length if she got pregnant after 35, “I see this discussion everywhere. This notion that a year above 30 makes it tough for a woman to conceive creates a lot of unnecessary pressure. Many women face more difficulties as they are under immense psychological stress. I feel that staying happy, believing in God and having positive manifestations make a lot of difference. It is annoying to see how a woman’s age always comes up when she is pregnant at a slightly later stage of her life.”

Vivek Dahiya believes that people stress too much on age. “I have also heard many say, “Baccha kar lo, late ho jayega,” but I don’t understand. Times have changed now. People invest a lot on their health and fitness. I feel as energetic as a 30-year-old and so does Divyanka. Also, I feel pregnancy is a happier journey when people are mentally ready and feel secure in all aspects,” he adds.

The couple are planning a baby shower soon but the date is not fixed. Vivek says, “We have to coordinate dates with our family members who are in Chandigarh, Bhopal and Bengaluru. It will be a small family affair with a few friends.”
